A Hundred Million Suns is the fifth album released by Snow Patrol. Quite an album, too. It was always going to be difficult to produce an album quite as successful as Eyes Open (2006), which produced the smash hit Chasing Cars.

The band has previously produced albums many have criticised as being depressive and emo. I know for a fact my father seems to think so. It appears this album has been released with the genuine attempt at being somewhat 'happy'. Whilst the sound of the songs and the beats are not the most energetic and upbeat, the lyrics are certainly not attempting to make you suicidal - though I'm sure they weren't before.

So, whilst trying to attract more fans and yet keep the huge fanbase that they already have, Snow Patrol have released this album and introduced it with the exciting Take Back The City.

Now, I'm not sure if this album will be as big a hit as Eyes Open and I don't think a song on this album will manage to beat Chasing Cars - but some will get close. Please Just Take These Photos From My Hands is a great tune, Crack The Shutters is another fantastic song. The album just oozes excitement and a new feel to the songs, they've certainly been influenced by critics such as my father.

For once, I'm glad critics have had an influence. This new feel has definately changed how I view Snow Patrol now. Before this album I've always imagined the band as a depressive group of guys who roll about on the street in rain singing about chasing cars inside heads. Mental. Now, I imagine them strutting their stuff around the streets in an impressive and cocky manner which shouts: "We've changed for the good."
