Rave. This album is all about the funky sounds and the electronic beats that it produces. Listening to this album will literally make an old man die, but who cares when it makes us youngsters so darn happy?

Mercury, the first single from this album didn't have much of an impact on the UK charts, only topping 16th place, and the second single Talons did worse, reaching a pathetic (in terms of this being Bloc Party) 39th. Even so I rate this album highly.

It doesn't have the same feel as previous Bloc Party albums, it seems to focus more on the odd sounds that recurr in each song than the singing, with Mercury having limited lyrics, obviously the most repeated phrase being "Merc-merc-merc-mercury", which whilst is very fun and all, it doesn't really have much of an effect on society.

Saying that, Bloc Party are known as more of a rave band, they aren't here to tell us what to do, what not to do, what to feel, who to feel sorry for, they're here to make us dance. And, dammit, if that's what they were aiming for it certainly works.

Party, anyone?

Watch out for: Ares, Biko and Torjan Horse.
